Located in the Shaw Neighborhood, just east of Bloomingdale, in Washington, DC sits 602 U Street NW, a two-story historic home with cellar. Historic projects like this always pose unique challenges and opportunities for design. A balance has to be struck between restoring a historic context and creating new interiors for modern living in the 21st Century.

This balance is exemplified by the care we took to maintain all existing exterior features including restoring the arched side street entrance and the oriole window above while maximizing the flexibility of interior and and allowing an abundance of natural light to fill each room.

This home is now ready for a large growing family to give it new life for another 100 years.
