The entrance to any building is a reflection of what will be found inside. Is it inviting, is it easy to come and go, is it well lit, is it comfortable, is it spacious, is it beautiful or at least in some way pleasing to the eye?
These are all questions that we asked when we were asked to help design a new entrance for a family owned liquor store in Cabot, Arkansas. The location is just off a state highway and gets a lot of visibility. So the challenge was to create something that would feel inviting, be comfortable for customers, meet necessary ADA codes, but also be visible as a kind of signage from the highway.
And so we created two very different schemes as a solution to this particular design. One being very modern and bright to be a beacon for advertisement. The other more Japanese inspired to elicit a feeling of comfort.
