Local Little Rock developers, EcoModern Development, approached us to help them create a unique, modern, energy efficient single family home design for a heavily sloped lot in the Capitol View neighborhood near downtown Little Rock. The design we created for them became known as The Steamboard House because of it's overall form resembling the steamboats that used to chug up and down America's rivers. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths spread over 2 floors with upper and lower porches that offer views of the downtown skyline, the Capitol, and the Arkansas River in almost complete panoramic procession. While spacious, the home is only 1,800 square feet. The interior spaces are generous, but efficiently designed to maximize utility while minimizing unusable interstitial spaces like hallways.
